Will a Ryze/DJI Tello fly in a moving lift whilst ascending or descending? Drone experiment! Will a Ryze/DJI Tello fly in a moving lift whilst ascending or descending? Drone experiment!

We wondered how a drone would behave while hovering in a lift/elevator when ascending or descending, we guessed correctly but will you? Be sure to check our full review of the Ryze Tello afterward you have watched our video experiment.

Modern drones are equipped with a variety of sensors, many even now have upward facing obstacle avoidance but the Tello only features the basics.

The Ryze Tello positioned in a hover ready for the elevator/lift experiment to determine its behaviour during the ascent and descent of the lift.

As a basic drone it only features a downward optical flow camera which is used for positioning, it also has an internal barometer for altitude measurement and infrared sensing for landing purposes.

In this experiment, we started with the drone hovering and then prompted the elevator/lift to ascend, we then performed the same experiment with the lift descending, the results are great to see.
